There are a lot of differences, and you can look through the features of each product to see what’s best for you. Knoll Light factory has been used in tons of blockbuster films, like Avatar, Transformers, Star Trek and many others. It still remains Hollywood’s #1 go-to lens flare tool, and is a piece of the core technology used for flare generation at ILM.
All of that aside, one of the big benefits of Knoll Light Factory is that it runs on several hosts apps, not just AE. So you can use it in After Effects, Final Cut, Premiere Pro, Motion, and Avid. You get all of that in one purchase.
