Hey all -
A while back, we gave an update on the status of our plugins running on OSX Lion: Roaring Through The Issues. Pretty much, it came down to some serious bugs in OS X Lion, that we could not control. However we did our best to communicate the issues with Apple, and we’re excited to say…
Breaking News! Today, Apple announced an update for OS X Lion: 10.7.2 and we’re happy to say that this update resolves the issues we have been seeing with Magic Bullet Looks 2, Colorista II, Primatte Keyer, and Knoll Light Factory running in Final Cut Pro on OSX Lion. We’ve been testing with the pre-releases of this OS X update and we can finally give it a thumbs up!
Thanks for your patience on this. Getting these bugs resolved was entirely out of our hands, but we’re happy that our dialog with Apple resulted in a a fantastic problem-solving update!

So are you saying that Magic Bullet suite 11.1 is now compatible with Lion and if so what about Final Cut Pro X?
October 13th, 2011 at 2:33 pm
We are currently testing for FCPX. We will make an announcement when we release further compatibility.
Thanks!

Thank you! I really appreciate you guys supporting your existing customers so much.

Thanks for the news update. May I suggest an idea?
As a matter of fact I purchased Final Cut Pro X the day it was released, this… just in order to be able to use Magic Bullet Suite (that I bought on that occasion too). So yes, I bought it before the problem was known and discussed here. This means that I have not been able to use MB Looks just once (too bad indeed!).
So, since then, I visit your blog regularly and with great attention in the hope that the issue will be solved… and I noticed that many people are doing so. Every update on your blog was both great (please don’t misunderstand me, your feedback is definitely appreciated)… but I must confess, at the same time, quite disappointing, because… not yet “THE” one expected.
Little idea :
The FAB thing would be to collect the email addresses of the customers interested to be “pinged” when the glorious update is released. This would put them in a position where they feel reassured that busy work weeks or months won’t make them miss the precious. – Been dreaming about a check box with :
“I want to receive an email when Magic Bullet Suite will be compatible with Final Cut Pro X” : )))
Thanks for reading this.
You guys Rock!
Cheers.
Luc.

I’m having an issue where the preview in Looks Builder dramatically doesn’t match what’s shown FCP 7′s canvas, after I hit OK. Not sure if t his has to do with FCP, Looks, or Lion. Any ideas? Thanks

Update: Borrowed a friend’s laptop running Snow Leopard and Looks works fine on there, so this could be a Lion compatibility problem. FYI I was using an old FCP project.

After the 10.7.2 Lion upgrade, Magic Bullet Looks has gained a number of bugs for both using it in After Effects CS5.5 or using it as a standalone (note that I’m not talking about Photolooks): Cosmo settings does not make a difference anymore, Saturation and the Gradient filter does not do anything anymore.

What does the 10.7.2 update do for us who are using MB suite 10 with FCP 7? does it also fix it?
November 21st, 2011 at 3:34 pm
Andrew,
Although we have never tested for Magic Bullet Suite 10 in 10.7.2, after speaking with out QA manager he informed me that it should work in that host application.
If you are having any issue within that OS, please contact our support team:

I just called customer support because my newly purchased Quick Looks wasn’t working. They said it wasn’t currently compatible with 10.7.2. Is that correct?
December 14th, 2011 at 11:04 am
Patrick,
That is correct. Quicklooks is our only product thats not yet compatible with OS Lion. We are currently looking into that compatibility.
Please let us know if you need any further information.
Thank you,

A few Red Giant plugins that used to be available to me in Avid 5.5 are no longer showing up since I updated to Lion and Avid 6. Is that a function of everything having to run at 64 bits? Should any Red Giant plug ins work with Avid now and/or will any be updated to work in the future?
December 16th, 2011 at 2:51 pm
We are currently working with Avid on releasing compatibility. No ETA on the release date as of yet.
But we will make sure to let everyone know.
Thanks,
Kaylinn

Hi Kaylinn. Is there any update on Primatte? I’m just want to know if I should keep waiting assuming its under development, or if I need to go and buy something else in the mean time. I would much rather be using Primatte.

Tim,
Unfortunately we do not have any release dates at this time.
Thank you,
Kaylinn
