IMPORTANT: The new FCPX 10.0.4 update breaks the preview functionality for Magic Bullet Looks & some other non Red Giant plug-ins.
Do NOT update IF YOU ARE USING LOOKS. If you have already updated, we currently don’t know of any way to roll it back to a previous version. Here’s some more info:
In the latest release of FCPX, Apple fixed a bug in FCPX 10.0.4 that makes it clearer to plugins about the orientation of the video. However, because of this bug fix, you’re now seeing a flipped image in Magic Bullet Looks. Here’s why:
We already knew about the issue a long time ago. To make sure you never experienced any problem, we put work-around for the bug in MB Looks. So you never saw the issue, because we already had it covered. However, the work around we created isn’t compatible with the latest bug fix from Apple, so it ends up causing a flipped image.
Here’s the good news:
- We’re on it and will fix it ASAP
- It does not affect renders, it’s only in the preview.
Again, our recommendation, for now, is that you do not update to 10.0.4 – if you are using Looks. As soon as we have a fix, we’ll let you know.

Yeah. I just found this out. When adding the Magic Looks Filter to footage, the footage shows up upside down in the Magic Looks interface. Pretty weird.

Of course read this just a few hours after upgrading.
Will you be able to fix this within the next few days?

Looking forward to the Looks update/correction. God speed your work, Red Giant.

Any news of Denoiser 2 and Colorista 2 for FCPX?
April 13th, 2012 at 8:49 am
Trog,
We do not have a set release date at this time. We are aiming to release Denoiser II for FCPX and Premiere Pro mid 2012.
Thank you,

The updated version of Looks 2.0.7 with bug fix was just released. Thanks for acting quickly!

I updated to 2.0.7 successfully but even after re-boot I am still getting upside down images of frame and looks. I am using dual monitors, maybe that was not addressed?
Perhaps it is not entirely fixed?

I wish I read this before I updated. Will RED GIANT software update automatically like any app or I should manually download the update as soon as I see it online on your website? Lets hope it doesnt take too long.

This is happening to me only now, in 10.0.6 – except that the reversed and/or flipped frame renders as well. I’ve been searching this site for a while to see if you knew about it and this is the only thing I’ve found so far.

More than eight months have passed since FCP X support was mentioned. Mid-2012 has long come and gone; we are almost in 2013 without any love. Any updates on a release day please?

I am having the same problem as a few others where my magic bullet mojo renders with green squares popping up every now and then. Never a problem and now it is. It’s after 5p.m. so I can’t chat with anyone about it but I’d love to get this fixed b/c I’m working on a few different projects with deadlines. Thanks very much. Happy Thanksgiving week.

Bradley,
Go ahead and email into support@redgiantsoftware.com
If you are working with Mojo in FCPX 10.0.6, this is a known issue that we are aware of. Unfortunately we are currently waiting for Apple to release an update so we may resolve this issue.
Thank you,

AndGuz – Looks has been working perfectly in FCPX for months. However, Apple’s most recent update (10.0.6) has revealed some new issues. Stay tuned.

I’ve also been experiencing glitchy issues when applying Looks (2.08) to footage in FCPX (10.0.6).

Calvin,
This is a known 10.0.6 Apple issue. They are aware of this 3rd party plug in problem and we are waiting for them to release a fix.
Thank you so much for your understanding.

If you are using mojo in fcpx 10.0.6 and you are having the random green squares popping up, changing the clip length (even 1 second) will make it go away. Of course this is ridiculously tedious, but until there’s a fix out there, I think this is the only way to get work done. Best of luck.
