Q. Why isn't Denoiser 1 available on your website?

 

In March 2011, Google acquired Green Parrot Pictures, our partners in the technology for the original Denoiser. Due to this acquisition, we are not allowed to sell or distribute Denoiser 1 because it uses Green Parrot Pictures technology.

 

We have spent the last yea redeveloping Denoiser II to match - and exceed - the quality of Denoiser 1. We’ve worked closely with industry professionals to create a stable, simple and high quality experience with Denoiser II, which is fully designed by Red Giant.

 

Q. Denoiser crashed a lot. Is Denoiser II any better?

 

Many of you reported a problem with stability in Denoiser 1. Because we didn’t have full ownership of Denoiser 1, we didn’t have the ability to go in and fix the problems we heard about. We listened to your feedback and worked extra hard to create a new denoising tool that is worthy of the Magic Bullet name. We 100% own the code for Denoiser II, so expect a very stable product that will get real attention if you run into issues.

 

Q. I own Denoiser 1, Denoiser II 1.2, or Magic Bullet Suite. Do I get Denoiser II v1.3 for free?

 

Of course! Denoiser II v1.3 is free for current owners of Denoiser II 1.2, Denoiser 1.0 or Denoiser 1.0.1, Magic Bullet Suite 10, and Magic Bullet Suite 11. (By the way, Denoiser II is also called Denoiser 1.3 for support reasons.) Download Denoiser II update here.

 

Q. Will my Denoiser 1, Denoiser II 1.2, or Magic Bullet Suite 11 serial number work with Denoiser II v1.3?

 

Yes. You can use your Denoiser 1, Denoiser II 1.2, or MBS 11 serial number for Denoiser II. You do not need a new serial number. (Hooray!)

 

Q. I have Denoiser 1. Do I need to update to Denoiser II?

 

The update is free from Denoiser 1 to Denoiser II, but you don’t have to change over right away. You can also choose to run the products side by side. Installing Denoiser II will not overwrite or remove Denoiser 1, which means you can use both plug-ins without conflict.

 

Q. Will my Denoiser 1 projects work with the new Denoiser II?

 

No. Due to the different technologies developed by Green Parrot Pictures and Red Giant, the two versions are not compatible. However, you can install Denoiser 1 and Denoiser II on the same machine, which will allow you to open older projects.

 

Q. Can I download Denoiser 1 at a later time?

 

No. Due to the Google acquisition, we are not allowed to sell or distribute previous versions of Denoiser that use Green Parrot Pictures technology. All current and past versions of Denoiser 1.0/1.1 have been removed from our website and product catalog. But don’t fret; we will not uninstall Denoiser 1 from your workstation, and there is no time limit on using the product.

 

Q. Can I still get support for Denoiser 1 if I need it?

 

Absolutely. Just contact our Support team. However, if you are experiencing a performance issue with Denoiser 1.0/1.0.1, we recommend that you install and use Denoiser II instead. This will likely solve your issue as we have made many stability improvements to Denoiser II that we couldn’t do with Denoiser 1.

 

Update: This new release of Denoiser II 1.3  now supports Final Cut 7 and Premiere Pro in addition to After Effects.

 

Q. How do I know that Denoiser II won’t be discontinued?

 

We guarantee that Denoiser II won’t go anywhere. Denoiser 1 used technology licensed from another company, Green Parrot Pictures, and that technology was acquired by Google. However, Denoiser II was developed internally and is owned 100% by Red Giant. We feel Denoiser II is worthy of the Magic Bullet name and intend to make you as proud as we are.

 

Q. Why is Denoiser II also called Denoiser II 1.3?
 

The final version of Denoiser 1 was version 1.0.1. As part of our redevelopment of Denoiser, we included ‘II’ in the new product name for copyright reasons. (And ‘cause it sounds cool.) We internally called the first release of Denoiser II as version 1.2. The new update is now Denoiser II 1.3. This will help our Support team quickly determine what version of Denoiser you have, so we can better help you with your issues and updates.
