Hi folks – Apple just released MacOS Big Sur. We are happy to let you know that all of our current products are compatible – with a couple of warnings.

Magic Bullet Colorista IV & Denoiser III

If you are a customer using Magic Bullet Colorista IV or Denoiser III, they will not work in Apple FCPX or Motion at this time. We’re working with Apple on this and will keep you posted on our progress.

Do I Need to Update?

The great news is that (other than the notes above) if you are using current versions of our products your software is already compatible – there is nothing you need to do. If you are not sure if your current Red Giant installations are up-to-date, follow the instructions below.

  1. Run Red Giant Application Manager see if any of your products have an update available (noted with a blue button marked “UPDATE”).
  2. If there is an Update Button, click on it and follow the instructions for installation.
  3. If there is no indication of an available update, you are on the current version. You can also choose “check for updates” to be sure.

As always, if you have any problems, our support team is here for you.

  1. Does anyone have any sort of ETA on when the issue with Colorista will be resolved?

  2. Have you got plans to port all plugins to universal binaries for Apple Silicon Macs? Obviously, there’s no native version of After Effects yet, but hopefully that’s coming sooner rather than later

  3. Is there any update to this yet? I did a search before updating, and saw a big headline from Red Giant that said “We are ready for Big Sur!”. Ok. I should have investigate further, because that is not the case at all. When will Denoiser and Colorista be ready for FCPX in Big Sur?
